Can I empty a keg if its been sitting for too long?

We used a keg at a party a couple of months ago, but never finished it. We never got around to pumping it empty with the tap and bringing it back for the deposit, so its now been sitting in my friends garage for quite some time. Will it be hard to pump it empty, and will I still be able to bring it back for the deposit?
